On behalf of the City of Miami and Youth Fishing Foundation, Inc. (“YFF”), we would like to invite you to partner with us in celebrating the 8th renewal of National Marina Day, to be held on Saturday August 8, 2009. The centerpiece of our festivities will be our third annual Miami Fishing Tournament, to be run out of the City’s Miamarina, located downtown at the Bayside Marketplace.
National Marina Day is an annual celebration of the important role marinas play in waterfront communities all across America. Each day, our country’s marinas serve as a safe, family-friendly gateway to boating and as stewards of the environment. Our local marinas serve as access points to boating and a wide variety of water based recreational activities, and they provide the infrastructure that allows people seeking recreation on the water to safely begin and end their activities.
Last year, with the help of our title sponsor InterCity Tires, and our many other sponsors and volunteers, our National Marina Day celebration and Miami Fishing Tournament was a huge success. We were able to provide a fishing excursion for over seventy local children, many of whom had never been on the water before. The day included a trip offshore aboard the fishing vessel “Another Reward” with individual rod and reel combos provided to each child by YFF, a variety of “goodies” contributed by our sponsors, and a great luncheon afterward provided by the Hyatt Regency Downtown Hotel.
Net proceeds from last year’s tournament of over $21,000 were donated to YFF to continue their mission of promoting education, conservation, citizenship, and fun among children and their families through a wide variety of activities, including sponsoring fun fishing clinics, educational programs, and other activities. I am very pleased to report that, with our sponsors’ assistance, YFF initiated a scholarship program to reward deserving high school students with five separate $1,000 academic scholarships for college bound students interested in majoring in fields related to marine biology, environmental studies, or similar subject matter.
Please help us continue our work with the Youth Fishing Foundation and other local non profit organizations by becoming a sponsor. Your sponsorship is not only tax deductible but also provides a great opportunity to maximize the visibility of your product or service to a broad market while assisting worthwhile local youth recreational organizations. Sponsorships come in several levels, and can include either cash and “in-kind” participation.
Our tournament is fun, affordable, and open to everyone. We’ll provide a wide variety of tournament prizes, including Pee Wee Angler and Junior Angler Awards. At our event, we will provide educational information about safe boating, clean boating practices, and environmental conservation.
Thank you in advance for your consideration, and for any participation you may be able to provide. I look forward to joining you at Miamarina on National Marina Day, August 8, 2009, for a great day of fishing and fun.
Sincerely,
Stephen H. Bogner
